Role Overview

Under the guidance of the Cardiac Manager and the supervision of the Charge RN, the Cardiac Care Registered Nurse will play a vital role in executing the nursing process. Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting nursing assessments
  • Formulating nursing diagnoses
  • Planning and implementing care strategies
  • Evaluating patient outcomes

Unit Specialization

The Cardiac Unit is a specialized critical care area staffed by nurses equipped to provide care for adult to geriatric patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring. Typical cases include:

  • Patients with congestive heart failure
  • Unstable angina
  • Heart arrhythmias
  • Post-procedural care for pacemaker and catheterization patients
  • Respiratory patients

Additionally, following the department's stroke certification, the Cardiac Unit nurses are now NIH certified, enabling them to care for neurological patients, including those experiencing TIA, CVA, and other related conditions.
