Position: Lead Linux Systems Architect

Objective
The Lead Systems Architect is responsible for maintaining optimal functionality and high availability within diverse Linux and Windows ecosystems, covering development, staging, and production phases. As an integral part of a performance-oriented service delivery group, this role involves collaboration with configuration specialists, release managers, software developers, and operational teams. Key duties include performing root cause investigations, selecting and deploying automation solutions, and engaging in comprehensive technical dialogues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the design, planning, and execution of server infrastructures
  • Enhance and architect systems frameworks for maximum efficiency
  • Automate repetitive tasks through scripting and software development
  • Research and implement emerging technologies and tools as necessary
  • Provide support for operational activities in a 24/7 setting
  • Assess, validate, and integrate new operating system releases, drivers, and updates
  • Conduct technical evaluations, troubleshoot issues, and recommend solutions
  • Collaborate and coordinate with developers, operational personnel, release managers, and end-users
  • Guide and mentor team members and operational staff
  • Participate in a weekly on-call rotation for after-hours assistance
Required Knowledge and Experience
  • 5-10+ years of expertise with Linux operating systems (preferably RedHat variants)
  • Skilled in programming with languages such as Python, Ruby, Bourne, PowerShell, and APIs
  • Familiar with tools like git, subversion, foreman, katello, Jenkins, or similar
  • Proven knowledge of multi-tiered, highly available, and resilient application architecture
  • Understanding of horizontal and vertical scaling for performance and stability
  • Familiar with low-latency/high-frequency computing environments
  • Knowledge of virtualization and experience with VMWare
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Able to work effectively in a service-oriented team environment
  • Strong project management, organizational, and time management skills
  • Customer-focused and dedicated to delivering the best possible user experience
  • Effective communication skills with both technical and business stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience in Systems Engineering
  • Intermediate understanding of application and server virtualization
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, or similar container platforms
  • Experience with automation and configuration management using Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or similar tools
  • Proficiency in network analysis using tools like tcpdump, Wireshark, or Tshark
