The City of Ypsilanti is seeking a highly skilled Fire Fighter/EMT to join our team. As a Fire Fighter/EMT, you will be responsible for responding to emergency calls, extinguishing fires, and providing medical assistance to those in need.
Key Responsibilities- Respond to fire alarms and emergency calls, analyzing situations and taking appropriate action
- Operate firefighting equipment and apparatus, including trucks, hydraulics, hoses, and ladders
- Perform search and rescue runs, extinguish fires, and ensure areas are safe before leaving the scene
- Provide emergency medical techniques and prepare follow-up reports on calls
- Act as a dispatcher, answering emergency phone calls and gathering important information
- Maintain trucks and equipment to ensure they are operational and ready for emergencies
- Participate in educational programs, training, and practice drills to maintain EMT certification
- Perform housekeeping and maintenance duties in and around the fire station
- U.S. Citizen
- Valid Michigan driver's license with a good driving record
- High school diploma or equivalent
- State of Michigan Firefighter I & II Certification
- State of Michigan EMT Basic Certification
- Valid certificate of completion of Conference of Western Wayne written and physical ability tests
- Current ARC or AHA CPR certification
- Hazardous Material Operation Level certification
