Job Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Classroom Teacher to join our team at Arizona Autism Charter Schools, Inc. As a key member of our educational community, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality instruction and support to students with autism and related disorders.

Responsibilities
  • Implement instruction in a classroom setting, working closely with campus leadership and support staff to ensure a safe and effective learning environment.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that align with Arizona state standards and meet the unique needs of students with autism.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create a cohesive and supportive classroom team.
  • Provide daily feedback and coaching to support staff to ensure they are implementing instructional strategies and lessons as set forth.
  • Participate in regular observations and in-the-moment coaching from campus leadership, reporting data with high fidelity and analyzing data bi-weekly to inform instructional decisions.
  • Communicate regularly with parents, following Arizona Autism Charter Schools, Inc. guidelines.
  • Modify materials to meet student needs and IEP requirements.
  • Maintain substitute plans in case of absence.
  • Contribute to IEPs as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by administration.
Requirements
  • At least 1 year of experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities in a classroom environment preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required.
  • Enrollment in AZACS Teaching Certification program or a college/university certification program is required after obtaining a bachelor's degree.
  • Mastery and enthusiasm for best practices in autism education and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
  • Track record of success in behavior management with students with autism or other special needs.
  • Ability to approach situations with optimism and perseverance.
  • Ability to communicate with parents, co-workers, and professional contacts in a courteous and professional manner and following AZACS guidelines.
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to exercise reasonable judgment and maintain confidentiality.
  • Experience in structured teaching, center-based model preferred.
  • Valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card.
  • Experience and training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).

Working Conditions

Positions in this class require: stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Work is routinely performed in an indoor and outdoor classroom setting.
