About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Campus Police Officer to join our team at Guilford Technical Community College. As a key member of our security team, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for our students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce laws and regulations on campus, including criminal and traffic laws, as well as college rules and directives.
  • Investigate incidents and write reports, conduct preliminary investigations, and respond to medical emergencies.
  • Patrol campus buildings and grounds, enforce parking regulations, and lock and unlock buildings as needed.
  • Collect and secure evidence, testify in court, and serve criminal papers.
  • Work with school and community policing programs to identify and solve safety and security issues.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent, with a minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Successful completion of an accredited Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) Program and certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
  • Prior experience as a Law Enforcement Officer, preferably in an educational institutional setting.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations, as well as departmental directives and court procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and to work well with students, faculty, staff, and the public.
  • Ability to make sound, independent decisions and to work as a team member.
  • Physical ability to safely restrain uncooperative individuals and to operate campus police vehicles under all conditions.
