Key ResponsibilitiesThe Laboratory Research Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting a range of experiments and assessments under the guidance of the Analytical Laboratory Manager and Project Leader. The position will involve:
- Conducting routine laboratory tasks and maintaining analytical instrumentation.
- Setting up experiments, executing protocols, and accurately recording data.
- Focusing on experimental designs and assisting in the collection and analysis of data pertaining to chemical and biological studies.
- Embracing the company’s culture, mission, and vision.
- Performing chromatography tasks, including sample preparation and execution.
- Engaging in protein chemistry by preparing samples for internal analysis.
- Implementing various molecular biology techniques such as PCR and gel electrophoresis.
- Analyzing feedstock composition, including fat, fiber, ash, and phytic acid content.
- Understanding and differentiating between crude fiber, NDF, and ADF.
- Executing assays to quantify protein and sugar metabolism.
- Operating and maintaining laboratory and analytical equipment.
- Documenting laboratory data in compliance with company policies.
- Collaborating with team members to manage supplies and equipment.
- Adhering to Good Laboratory Practices and regulatory standards.
- Assisting with laboratory procurement and inventory management.
- Maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
- Completing additional tasks as assigned.
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.
- Experience in laboratory testing, sample collection, and analysis.
- A methodical and practical approach to problem-solving.
- Strong grasp of scientific methodologies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Able to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams while managing multiple priorities.
Preferred:
- Experience with sterile fermentation processes.
- Knowledge of amino acid chemistry and protein dispersibility index.
- Familiarity with operating and maintaining laboratory and analytical equipment.
- Understanding of enzyme functions.
- Strong knowledge of mass balance principles.
