Job Overview

Hume Christian Camps is seeking a highly skilled Human Resources Manager to lead our team in fostering a supportive work environment and ensuring the smooth operation of our camps.

We offer a unique opportunity for year-round camping ministries dedicated to the glory of God, with three beautiful camp locations across California.

About the Role

This Strategic HR Leader will play a vital role in driving all aspects of Human Resources activities, including recruitment, staff development, employee relations, and compliance.

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in a church, faith-based ministry, or Christian camp setting, with a strong background in leadership and HR management.

Responsibilities
  • Develop a strong people strategy and drive implementation of all HR activities with a Biblical perspective that creates staff engagement and supports the ministry's mission through its people.
  • Lead a multi-member HR team to enhance efficiency and effectiveness while partnering with Hume's senior leaders to align HR efforts with the ministry's goals.
  • Effectively manage, maintain, and optimize the HRIS including administration of benefits.
  • Recruit and partner with the Recruitment Specialist to drive an effective hiring process for all camp staff, including seasonal and full-time positions.
  • Design and implement training programs that align with our mission and values.
  • Navigate complex employee relations issues professionally and pastorally.
  • Lead the performance review process and provide ongoing professional development and spiritual support for staff members.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies that are consistent with Christian principles and legal requirements.
Requirements
  • Active SPHR or SHRM-SCP certification preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of demonstrated strong leadership skills and held a position as a HR Manager or similar.
  • Extremely knowledgeable of California compliance and laws, benefits, performance management, and the various facets of HR.
  • Proficiency in HR software, Microsoft Office Suite, and database management.
