Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Specialist II to join our team in Yorktown, VA. As a key member of our Public Works - Administration department, you will be responsible for performing heavy manual work in the maintenance of County drainage ways and their associated structures.

Your duties will include maintaining drainage systems, re-constructing drainage ways as needed, observing and detecting illicit discharges at outfalls, and assisting with the collection of storm debris. You must have a valid driver's license, high school diploma or equivalent, and experience operating hand and power tools.

You will also be required to interpret and read maps and drawings of drainage easements, possess a Virginia Flagger certification, and have experience reading maps and drawings related to drainage easements. Additionally, you must be physically able to operate a variety of hand and power tools, lift between 50 and 100 pounds, and work outdoors under all types of weather conditions.

The estimated salary range for this position is $30,380.00 - $35,500.00 annually, depending on qualifications and experience. If selected, you will be considered an essential employee (County designation as ALPHA) and will be required to report to work during inclement and extreme weather conditions, often outside normally scheduled work hours.
