The Registered Nurse in the OB department will attend to a diverse range of patients, including but not limited to those in antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, newborn care, and GYN surgical patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver nursing care tailored to the patient's condition and requirements.
- Consult and collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Establish, review, modify, and adhere to the patient care plan.
- Administer medications and treatments within the Registered Nurse's scope of practice.
- Document patient care activities, including assessments, reassessments, and ongoing treatment notes in the patient's medical record.
- Utilize various computer systems effectively.
- Operate medical equipment necessary for patient care.
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment, diagnosis, medications, discharge procedures, and self-care practices.
- Ensure patient care aligns with nursing standards, promoting excellent outcomes while minimizing harm and fostering health and healing.
- Exhibit the ability and willingness to adhere to established Standards of Performance.
- Demonstrate proficiency in reading and communicating effectively in English.
- Maintain composure under pressure, adapt swiftly to changing situations, and demonstrate flexibility in applying nursing knowledge across various settings.
Organizational Expectations
- Actively engage in Foundation Safety Behavior Tools and Tactics, including Briefs, Debriefs, Huddles, Learning Board Activities, Executive Patient Safety Rounds, and reporting unanticipated patient events, regardless of harm.
- Provide effective mentoring and support to colleagues.
- Demonstrate loyalty to absent team members.
- Consistently practice AIDET and the 5 P's.
- Uphold the facility's Standards of Performance.
Job Requirements
Minimum Education
Possession of an active RN license in the relevant state or a compact state license with the intention to obtain the necessary state license.
Required Skills
Current BLS certification or completion within a specified timeframe post-hire.
Completion of AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Course at the time of hire or obtain certification within a specified timeframe post-hire.
Current S.T.A.B.L.E. certification or completion within a specified timeframe post-hire.
Current ACLS certification or completion within a specified timeframe post-hire.
Current NRP certification or completion within a specified timeframe post-hire.
