Position Overview:
The role of the Production Operator within our Drill/Rout core department involves the operation of specialized drill and rout machinery. The operator must be adept in all processes necessary to produce high-quality products efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret and accurately follow shop travelers, including job orders and customer specifications.
- Set up and operate various machinery in accordance with departmental protocols and job requirements.
- Monitor and ensure product quality throughout the production process.
- Operate multiple machines as required by the product mix.
- Utilize micrometers and calipers to determine appropriate drill types.
- Load machine programs as needed.
- Maintain an organized backlog of materials and oversee daily production.
- Troubleshoot any operational issues and communicate with supervisors as necessary.
- Participate in meetings, maintain a clean and safe work environment, and report safety hazards.
- Handle hazardous waste generated during operations in compliance with environmental safety protocols.
- Report all incidents, near misses, and safety concerns, and adhere to safety training and procedures.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Proficient in reading and understanding English instructions, including manufacturing work orders and blueprints.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and technical aptitude.
- Able to work collaboratively in a team environment as well as independently.
- Manual dexterity is crucial for operating machinery.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and electronic record updates.
- Physical capability to stand or sit for extended periods and lift weights of 10-40 pounds.
- Effective communication skills in English.
- Reliable attendance and willingness to work overtime as needed.
- Comfortable in a manufacturing setting with machinery and chemicals.
- Willingness to learn and operate additional machinery across departments.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Experience in blueprint reading is advantageous.
Compensation and Benefits:
