The Global Products Group (GPG) is responsible for the development of KLA's metrology and inspection products. Within this group, the Film and Scatterometry Technology (FaST) Division offers cutting-edge metrology solutions for semiconductor manufacturers. Our product portfolio includes advanced systems for measuring optical film thickness, critical dimensions, and other essential parameters. The FaST Division is dedicated to supporting customers from the initial research phase through to high-volume manufacturing, ensuring tailored solutions for their specific process requirements.
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and innovative Experimental Physicist/System Design Engineer to join our Research and Development team focused on pioneering metrology technologies for film stacks and critical dimension measurements.
Key Responsibilities
As a member of our team, you will:
- Design and develop optical systems from conceptualization to laboratory prototype, including theoretical studies and architectural analysis.
- Engage with leading suppliers to prototype sophisticated components and subsystems.
- Establish system specifications through error budget development and system-level analysis.
- Collaborate with peers and cross-functional teams, including Marketing and Engineering, to address technology and performance challenges.
Required Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should possess:
- A strong theoretical foundation in Physical Optics, optical systems, lasers, and detectors.
- In-depth technical knowledge of hardware technologies and systems engineering.
- Hands-on experience in designing and developing complex electro-optical setups.
- Analytical skills to create system models and conduct error budget analyses.
- Proficiency in data collection and analysis using tools such as MATLAB, Python, or LabVIEW.
- Ability to work independently and manage projects with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational skills to define work plans and execute test plans effectively.
- Excellent communication skills for presenting technical reviews and facilitating decision-making.
Minimum Qualifications
This position typically requires a Doctorate with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, a Master's degree with 6 years of experience, or a Bachelor's degree with 8 years of experience.
