Responsibilities- Standards of Practice
- Assessment: Collect and analyze data to determine the healthcare consumer's health or situation.
- Diagnosis: Analyze assessment data to determine actual and potential diagnoses or issues.
- Outcomes Identification: Identify expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the healthcare consumer or situation.
- Planning: Develop and modify a plan of care that prescribes strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes.
- Implementation: Implement the identified plan, coordinating care delivery and transitions in care.
- Health Teaching and Health Promotion: Employ strategies to promote health and a safe environment.
- Evaluation: Evaluate progress toward attainment of outcomes.
- Standards of Professional Performance
- Ethics: Practice ethically, respecting the patient's values, preferences, and expressed needs.
- Culturally Congruent Practice: Practice in a manner that is congruent with cultural diversity and inclusion principles.
- Communication: Communicate effectively in all areas of practice.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with healthcare consumers and other key stakeholders in the conduct of nursing practice.
- Leadership: Lead within the professional practice setting and the profession.
- Evidence-Based Practice and Research: Integrate evidence and research findings into practice.
- Quality of Practice: Contribute to quality nursing practice.
- Professional Practice Evaluation: Evaluate own and others' nursing practice.
- Resource Utilization: Utilize appropriate resources to plan, provide, and sustain evidence-based nursing services.
- Environmental Health: Practice in an environmentally safe and healthy manner.
- Education
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
- BSN or demonstrated BSN enrollment required with completion within three years of hire.
- Experience
- Registered Nurse is the foundational job description for all RNs.
- All RNs are encouraged to advance through the SPIRE clinical advancement program.
- Licensure
- Licensed and currently registered nurse in the State of Connecticut.
- Clinical specialty certification highly encouraged.
