Position Overview:

The Physical Therapist is accountable for the comprehensive management of patients requiring physical therapy services. This role involves collaboration with the Director, Assistant Director, and/or Clinical Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts thorough evaluations of patients to interpret examination results, identifying the nature and extent of physical dysfunction due to medical conditions, congenital issues, or health-related challenges, with the aim of restoring mobility and functional capabilities.
  • Develops individualized care plans tailored to the patient's age, medical history, and specific dysfunctions.
  • Administers or recommends appropriate modalities and physical agents to facilitate recovery.
  • Designs and implements exercise regimens and patient care programs to enhance rehabilitation outcomes.
  • Exhibits professional expertise and clinical judgment in assessing patient conditions throughout the various stages of physical therapy.
  • Implements safety measures and precautions based on the patient's age, medical background, and treatment type.
  • Regularly evaluates clinical indicators to assess treatment effectiveness, progress towards rehabilitation goals, and necessary adjustments to the treatment plan.
  • Delivers direct treatment to patients as part of the established therapy program.
  • May delegate certain aspects of the treatment plan to qualified support staff.
  • Coordinates treatment strategies and collaborates in discharge planning with other healthcare professionals as needed.
  • Participates in relevant patient care discussions and case management meetings.
  • Provides education and guidance to patients and their families regarding treatment and recovery.
  • Determines when patients can be discharged from physical therapy services based on clinical appropriateness.
  • Adheres to Kaiser Permanente's policies, procedures, and relevant laws and regulations.
  • Maintains cleanliness and functionality of assigned areas and reports any equipment issues following departmental protocols.
  • Ensures accurate and timely documentation of services provided in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Collaborates with management to fulfill all mandatory compliance obligations.
  • May require training to address the diverse needs of the patient population.
  • May assist in the clinical training of PT Assistants and PT Aides.
  • Supervises PT assistants and aides during delegated patient-related and non-patient-related tasks.
  • Demonstrates exemplary customer service and adheres to the Principles of Responsibility at all times.

Qualifications:

Experience:

  • N/A

Education:

  • Graduation from an accredited physical therapy program with a Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy.

Licensure and Certification:

  • California Physical Therapist License required upon hire or California Physical Therapist License Applicant required upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association required upon hire.
  • National Provider Identifier required upon hire.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to work effectively in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
  • If licensed as a PTLA or recipient of a PT Aide Letter, must pass the licensing exam within 120 days from the date of the letter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Membership in the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
