POSITION SUMMARY

This role entails delivering expert Realtime reporting and transcription services for judicial proceedings, hearings, and conferences. Candidates for this position must possess the Registered Professional Reporter (RPR) certification from the National Court Reporters Association (NCRA) and have achieved a minimum accuracy of 96% on one of the following examinations: Certified Realtime Reporter (CRR), Certified Broadcast Captioner (CBC), Certified CART Provider (CCP), or the Federal Certified Realtime Reporter (FCRR).

WORK SCHEDULE

This position requires in-person attendance during standard business hours, Monday through Friday, with a designated lunch break.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Deliver real-time, verbatim court reporting services using stenographic shorthand for various court proceedings.
  2. Organize and manage records while prioritizing transcript production. Prepare necessary reports and documentation in accordance with established directives and local policies.
  3. Ensure the secure backup of all stenographic notes, rough drafts, and finalized transcripts, including reporter dictionaries and relevant software files.
  4. Collaborate with team members on hearings and trials, sharing files and attending regular meetings.
  5. Perform additional duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This role may involve occasional oversight of assistants or temporary staff, requiring a moderate level of complexity in the tasks performed.

COLLABORATIVE WORK

Engagement with others outside of direct reporting lines may be necessary to provide guidance on specific issues or policies, requiring a consideration of diverse perspectives to reach consensus.

DECISION-MAKING AND IMPACT

Employees in this role will operate under general direction, adhering to established procedures and policies while having the discretion to select the appropriate course of action for their responsibilities.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

This position demands advanced skills and extensive knowledge in the field, enabling the incumbent to navigate complex tasks and nuances effectively.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Associate's degree or equivalent college coursework.

Experience: 1 to 3 years of relevant court reporting experience.

Certifications: RPR certification through the NCRA, meeting national standards for Realtime reporting.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This role may involve medium physical effort, including the ability to lift and move objects as necessary.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The position is typically performed in an office setting, free from significant environmental hazards.
