Position Overview
The Magnetic Resonance Imaging Specialist is responsible for operating advanced magnetic resonance imaging machinery to capture highly detailed images of the human body. These images play a crucial role in the evaluation, diagnosis, and staging of various medical conditions and injuries. The Specialist works autonomously while adhering to the protocols established by the supervising radiologist.

Key Responsibilities
- Utilize contrast agents in accordance with departmental policies and guidelines.
- Produce images in multiple planes and formats, ensuring high-quality output.
- Adhere to infection control protocols as per hospital regulations.
- Maintain effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Uphold MRI safety standards consistently throughout all procedures.

Educational Requirements
- Associate of Science degree - Required
- Specialized training in Radiologic Technology with a focus on MRI - Preferred

Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of MRI experience - Preferred

Licensure & Certification
- Valid Professional License in the State of Practice - Required
- MRI Certification to be obtained within one year of employment - Required

Core Job Functions
- Accurately document procedural details and patient charges following departmental protocols.
- Identify and communicate any concerns regarding patient history or imaging results to the radiologist for appropriate action.
- Complete necessary documentation within the department's PACS system.
- Verify orders from physician offices, ensuring the correct diagnosis is included.
- Enter and scan orders into the imaging computer system.
- Demonstrate knowledge of JC, OSHA, and ACR guidelines regarding patient care.
- Exhibit proficiency in aseptic techniques, Universal Precautions, and patient identification protocols.
- Deliver exceptional patient care in line with contrast administration policies.
- Ensure compliance with medication access and verification systems.
- Conduct routine cleaning and maintenance of imaging equipment as per manufacturer recommendations and departmental policies.
- Promptly enter work orders for equipment issues into the system.
- Provide staff education on equipment care and operation annually and as needed.
- Maintain national certification and demonstrate competence in all departmental equipment and procedures.
- Report any equipment malfunctions to management for timely resolution.
- Utilize Safe Patient Handling systems appropriately to ensure patient safety.
