Early Education Program (EEP) is seeking an experienced Preschool Promise Lead Teacher to lead our preschool classrooms in providing a nurturing environment for children from income-eligible families.

About the Role

This full-time position requires a skilled educator with experience in teaching preschoolers with special needs. The successful candidate will provide engaging activities, positive interactions, and a culturally responsive environment for children and families. They will also direct staff in best practices for childhood education and support them in developing effective skills and strategies to address various needs in the classroom setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure children's safety at all times and engage them in developmentally appropriate play and activities.
  • Provide leadership in the classroom through training and support of the team to help children meet developmental goals.
  • Engage in positive interactions and partnerships with families, regularly communicating about child progress and successes.
Secondary Functions
  • Collect necessary data for assessment tools such as AEPS.
  • Implement program curricula including Creative Curriculum and PATHS social-emotional curriculum.
  • Oversee record keeping for children and family paperwork, including enrollment and maintains other records related to Preschool Promise and the Oregon Office of Childcare.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Enrolled in Oregon's Criminal Background Registry (CBR).
  • A fluent Spanish speaker is highly preferred.
  • Step 8 or higher on Oregon Registry required OR.
  • Bachelor's/Master's Degree in child/education-related field preferred.
  • Two years of successful teaching in a preschool classroom setting is required.
  • Two years of successful teaching in a preschool that focuses on children with special needs preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Preschool Teacher with Good communication and instructional skills.
  • Cool-tempered, friendly, and reliable.
  • A balance between a creative mind and a practical acumen.
  • An understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods.
  • Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms.
  • Good communication and instructional skills.
  • Ability to act as a mediator between children.
  • Current food handler's card and CPR/First Aid.
Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this role is $55,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on experience. EEP offers great benefits, including paid time off, paid holidays, work life balance, and a hands-on, mission-driven work environment.

EEP is Lane County's largest specialized preschool, serving over 200 children in Creswell, Eugene, Junction City, and Springfield. We have been successfully serving preschoolers with special needs since 1981 and expanded to serve income-eligible families in 2016 through Oregon's Preschool Promise program.
