Patient Care Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Patient Care Specialist to join our team at the University of New Mexico - Hospitals. As a key member of our clinical staff, you will provide direct patient care and support services in an in-patient or out-patient environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide basic patient care, including taking and recording vital signs, and assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs).
- Observe patients to ensure their safety and well-being, and report observations to the Charge Nurse or appropriate designee.
- Assist with therapeutic plans of care and minute-to-minute care of patients who are at extreme risk to themselves or others.
- Complete documentation as required on the Electronic Medical Record.
- Participate in educational programs, read current literature, and attend in-services, meetings, and workshops to enhance professional growth and development.
Requirements:
- High School or GED Equivalent
- Certificate in Nursing or Emergency Medical Technology
- 6 months of patient care experience
- CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider or Professional Rescuer certification
Working Conditions:
- Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people.
- Significant Hazard: Chemicals, Bio-Hazardous Materials requiring Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
