**Job Summary**

The Addictions Counselor 1 (Hourly) serves as a vital member of the Addiction Treatment Center's (ATC) multidisciplinary treatment team, working under the supervision of a higher-level Addictions Counselor or Licensed Master Social Worker. This role is responsible for providing high-quality clinical services and direct care to clients.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • **Primary Counseling**: Function as a primary counselor for assigned groups of patients, managing all facets of clinical services and direct care.
  • **Therapy and Activities**: Provide individual and group therapy, as well as facilitate various recreational, vocational, and social activities to support client rehabilitation.
  • **Assessment and Monitoring**: Interview patients, review medical/psychiatric history, and complete assessments as part of treatment plan development and monitoring patient compliance with treatment goals.
  • **Documentation and Communication**: Complete required patient and facility documentation, adhering to applicable OASAS procedures and confidentiality regulations, and maintain relationships with vocational, educational, social services, probation, parole, referral agencies, and other community agencies associated with client rehabilitation.
  • **Crisis Intervention and Safety**: Provide crisis intervention and maintain a safe and therapeutic environment, conducting routine rounds and documenting observations.
  • **Transportation and Support**: Transport patients using agency vehicles and participate in meal preparation and distribution, as needed.
  • **Team Collaboration**: Communicate shift change information and participate in team meetings to facilitate smooth transitions and ensure continuity of services.

**Requirements**

  • Current registration as a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC), CASAC Level 2, CASAC-Advanced Counselor, or CASAC-Master Counselor in New York State.
  • Eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs.
