Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Articulate and promote the organization's safety vision, goals, and strategies to cultivate a culture of safety excellence.
- Oversee safety business planning initiatives, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.
- Lead the formulation and execution of comprehensive safety and health strategies, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Act as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies on safety issues, enforcing client safety standards and executive expectations.
- Adapt leadership style to effectively engage diverse audiences, from skilled workers to senior executives.
- Establish a national network with other safety professionals to continuously enhance safety culture and initiatives.
- Encourage a culture of care where all employees are empowered to address safety concerns.
- Support Division Safety Managers in creating local communities of practice and external collaborations to position the organization as an industry thought leader.
- Drive accountability among safety managers to meet program goals and compliance standards.
- Foster a collaborative environment that empowers team members to advance safety initiatives.
- Conduct performance assessments and provide constructive feedback to improve team effectiveness.
- Collaborate with division leadership to develop succession plans and talent pipelines for safety leadership roles.
- Mentor safety personnel, promoting a culture of ongoing learning and development.
- Work with Talent Acquisition to implement effective recruiting strategies for safety roles.
- Manage all aspects of safety program implementation across various operational sites, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess safety performance and drive continuous improvement.
- Provide expertise on safety policies and programs, conducting training sessions to enhance safety awareness.
- Facilitate the sharing of safety resources across the organization.
- Stay informed about regulatory changes and industry best practices, collaborating with stakeholders to implement effective safety measures.
- Lead incident management processes, ensuring thorough investigations, root cause analyses, and effective communication of lessons learned.
- Exhibit strong investigative skills to identify root causes and areas for improvement.
- Maintain composure under pressure, proactively addressing safety challenges.
- Collaborate with various departments to design safer work practices and mitigate risks.
- Oversee workers' compensation and insurance processes, ensuring effective claims management.
