Responsibilities- Provide Critical Care to ICU Patients: Administer prescribed medications and treatments, and provide assistance to doctors and other medical personnel in the assessment and delivery of treatments.
- Monitor Patient Condition: Keep patients under close observation, and monitor life support equipment and patient vital signs.
- Collaborate with Healthcare Team: Work closely with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Provide Education and Support: Educate patients and their families on how to provide care and support to critically ill patients.
- Perform Advanced Procedures: Draw blood from central and arterial lines, administer medications, and perform EKG and telemetry monitoring.
- Participate in Code Team: Participate in cardiac arrest code teams and provide critical care during emergency situations.
- Develop and Implement Care Plans: Develop and implement patient care plans based on continuing assessments, and revise plans as needed.
- Document Patient Care: Document nursing interventions and patient responses according to hospital policy.
- Evaluate Care Effectiveness: Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions and methods of implementation.
- Practice within Scope of Practice: Practice within the limits of the state's Nurse Practice Act and health care facility and nursing administrative policies.
- Supervise Ancillary Personnel: Supervise ancillary personnel in their performance of assigned job-related duties.
- Ensure Patient Confidentiality: Ensure patient confidentiality and the rights of the patient.
- Education and Experience: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, with current licensure in good standing, and a minimum of one year of current ICU hospital experience.
- Certifications and Training: Evidence of current AHA BLS and ACLS required, TNCC preferred.
