Position Overview

The primary objective of this role is to oversee and direct the maintenance team within the facility, ensuring the safe and effective operation of all production machinery, infrastructure, and service systems. This position will spearhead the implementation of process reliability frameworks, ensuring that robust systems are established to monitor, evaluate, and enhance the efficiency of production equipment. The Plant Maintenance Operations Leader will establish preventive maintenance protocols and facilitate the sharing of best practices across facilities to cultivate an effective maintenance strategy. This role demands the expertise, insight, and vision necessary to attain exemplary standards in safety and asset maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Budget Management: Responsible for the plant's capital expenditure and maintenance budget.
  • Location: Position based at the facility.
  • Team Leadership: Manage a team of 4-5 maintenance personnel.

Key Responsibilities

Performance Reliability of Automation Equipment:

  • Implement process reliability systems and lead initiatives aimed at achieving over 85% reliability in production machinery.
  • Establish an effective preventive maintenance program supported by a comprehensive spare parts management system.
  • Drive performance enhancement initiatives for automation equipment utilizing global standard methodologies such as root cause analysis and practical problem-solving techniques.
  • Develop a structured maintenance team within the facility, taking responsibility for their performance and development.

Technical Skills Development:

  • Ensure that service centers possess the necessary skills and systems for efficient equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Oversee the recruitment, training, and development of the technical and maintenance workforce.
  • Lead initiatives to improve automation technology and increase equipment capacity, including new installations and replacements.
  • Formulate and execute plans to enhance technical skills among inspection and repair personnel, driving the plant's training framework.
  • Implement the 'operate and maintain' philosophy among plant operators.
  • Facilitate technology transfer and training for all new automation installations.

Facilities and Utilities Management:

  • Lead upgrades and projects related to building and facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and good manufacturing practices for all facilities.
  • Maintain a comprehensive maintenance schedule for all plant facilities.
  • Oversee the performance of all utilities (power, gas, compressed air, water) to ensure operational continuity.
  • Guarantee 100% availability of utilities to support production needs.
  • Implement a preventive maintenance system for utilities.

Capital Projects and Asset Management:

  • Act as the representative for plant operations in all design and planning reviews for new projects.
  • Manage and oversee the plant's capital expenditure budget, ensuring spending aligns with financial plans.
  • Responsible for initiating capital expenditure requests for facility-specific improvement projects.
  • Maintain oversight of the plant's fixed asset inventory and depreciation processes.
  • Lead annual audits of fixed assets within the facility.

Performance Metrics

  • Equipment uptime and availability.
  • Achieve over 85% equipment process reliability.
  • Monitor line rate and speed in production.
  • Track mean time between failures (MTBF) and mean time to recover (MTTR).
  • Ensure timely completion of planned preventive maintenance.
  • Avoid equipment downtime due to critical spare parts shortages.
  • Maintain monthly maintenance expenditures within budget.
  • Monitor capital expenditure spending to prevent overspending.
  • Achieve successful vertical start-ups for automation equipment.

Decision-Making Authority

  • Participate as a member of the plant leadership team.
  • Authorize purchases of spare parts and equipment.
  • Oversee recruitment and training of maintenance technicians.
  • Manage personnel issues and performance evaluations.

Qualifications

  • HNC in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline preferred.

Experience

  • 2-3 years of management experience in an engineering or maintenance role, ideally within the FMCG sector.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Understanding of budgeting and capital expenditure processes.
  • Familiarity with overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) and reliability systems.
  • Knowledge of the CQV process.
  • Project management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project as a scheduling tool.

Language Proficiency

  • English

Base salary starting at $110,000.00 annually.
