Position Overview
The Patient Placement Specialist is responsible for optimizing the utilization of healthcare resources throughout the continuum of care. This role involves assessing and facilitating care plans prior to service delivery, ensuring that all necessary insurance authorizations and pre-certifications are obtained efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate clinical and financial data to recommend the most suitable service delivery settings, ensuring optimal resource use and reimbursement.
- Timely precertification of patient care services requiring authorization to enhance reimbursement for both patients and healthcare providers.
- Effectively communicate clinical and fiscal recommendations to internal and external stakeholders to ensure high-quality service delivery and satisfaction.
- Engage in performance improvement initiatives, contributing to data collection and analysis to enhance the patient placement and precertification processes.
- Achieve assigned performance goals and objectives.
Qualifications
Education:
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum: Associate’s degree or equivalent experience.
Experience:
- Preferred: 8 years of experience in a healthcare environment, focusing on patient access, business operations, or case management.
- Minimum: 5 years of experience in a healthcare environment, focusing on patient access, business operations, or case management.
Licensure and Certification:
- Preferred: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA).
Skills:
- Excellent communication abilities.
- Advanced proficiency in computer applications.
