Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) at Borland Groover is responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced gastroenterology specialty practice. The RN will coordinate nursing care, including direct and indirect patient care, patient/family education, and transition of care. The RN will also assess, observe, manage, and document patient care as part of the nursing process. In addition, the RN will collaborate with providers to maximize efficient patient flow.

Key Responsibilities

Efficiently room patients, obtain and record vital signs, patient history, medication reconciliation, and allergies.
Drive customer service initiatives by creating and owning the patient experience.
Pre-check charts for patients to be seen in the office, ensuring all results/records are present for review.
Assist providers with physical examinations as needed.
Participate in patient treatment regimens, including administering medications under the order of a physician.
Perform a variety of office responsibilities, including answering phones, taking messages, and performing triage within the scope of nursing practice.
Review instructions for medications and diet with patients.
Send referrals to other physicians as necessary.
Process and review patient education pertaining to ongoing care and HIPAA-compliant care providers.
Administer and document vaccines according to provider orders.
Maintain accurate documentation, including clinical notes on electronic health records.
Process prescription refills and authorizations under provider direction.
Document in the electronic health record.
Cover other nurses as needed, requiring phone call coverage or clinic coverage, which may involve travel to other offices.
Send physicians' procedures and hospital lists to the coding/hospital desk.
Check charts at the end of the day to ensure completion and signing off.
Practice universal precautions.
This role requires access to Personal Health Information (PHI), with HIPAA training required and HIPAA compliance expected.
Participate in training and compliance initiatives as needed.
Review and process PAQ/Clinical Tasks as directed by providers.
Place recalls at the provider's discretion.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Office Management, Office Manager, and Clinical Lead.

Additional Responsibilities

Provide and educate prep information for each Direct Access procedure (DAP) and procedure recall patients.
Stock and clean exam rooms.
Must follow the organization's Code of Conduct.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

Associate's Degree in Nursing required (Bachelor of Nursing preferred).
Must have an active Registered Nursing license in the State of Florida.
CGRN (Certified Gastroenterology Registered Nurse) Credential is preferred, but not required.
Must possess BLS certification or have the ability to obtain certification within 90 days.
1 year of RN experience working with patients in either a hospital or clinic setting preferred.
