Osteoimmunology Research Scientist
An academic role in osteoimmunology is open within the Department of Orthopaedics and the Kao Autoimmunity Institute (KAI) at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. The selected candidate may also be eligible for secondary roles in the Division of Rheumatology and/or the Department of Biomedical Sciences, both of which feature numerous exceptional laboratories focused on inflammation and immunology, as well as the newly formed and rapidly expanding Department of Computational Medicine.
The ideal applicant will possess a robust interest in translational research and aim to tackle significant inquiries pertinent to various musculoskeletal disorders, particularly emphasizing the immunological factors that contribute to bone pathology in the context of infectious and inflammatory conditions. Individuals from diverse fields of immunology employing methodologies ranging from computational to experimental will be welcomed. The Institute strongly encourages submissions from those interested in spatial immunology and studies of the tissue microenvironment.
The Department of Orthopaedics at Cedars-Sinai is recognized as one of the top departments nationally and leads in California, as per US News and World Report. It boasts strong clinical science and translational stem-cell initiatives in collaboration with the Cedars-Sinai Regenerative Medicine Institute (RMI). KAI is situated in a modern laboratory facility and offers its members access to a comprehensive array of well-maintained shared equipment, an Institute-based specimen-processing core, and a dedicated flow cytometry core. Our mission is to enable KAI members to concentrate on scientific endeavors rather than administrative tasks, while enhancing their access to high-quality clinical cohorts and expertise in clinical musculoskeletal science. Collaborations with RMI will be particularly encouraged.
Cedars-Sinai, the largest academic medical institution on the West Coast, is celebrated for its substantial investment in translational and clinical research, its collaborative and inclusive environment, and its well-supported, state-of-the-art core facilities and technology hubs.
