Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Support Assistant to join our team at Jenks Public Schools. As a key member of our special education department, you will play a vital role in supporting students with diverse needs and helping them achieve their academic goals.

About the Job

The Support Assistant will work under the supervision of a special education teacher to provide individualized support to students. This may include assisting with lesson plans, providing one-on-one instruction, and modifying materials to meet the needs of students with disabilities.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Assist teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans;
  • Provide one-on-one instruction and support to students as needed;
  • Modify materials and prepare classroom environments to accommodate students with varying abilities;
  • Assist with student transitions, including lunch, bathroom breaks, and specials;
  • Lift students as necessary to ensure their safety and well-being;
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or higher required; High School Diploma or GED accepted;
  • At least 2 years of study (48 hours) at an institution of higher education or equivalent;
  • Oklahoma General Education (OGET) Test passed or National Career Readiness Certificate obtained;
  • Cardiovascular Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid training completed and maintained;
  • Satisfy all district requirements regarding physical health and citizenship;
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks as required by the job;
Working Conditions

This position is a 9-month classified hourly contract. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment, communicate effectively with colleagues and students, and demonstrate empathy and patience when working with students with diverse needs.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $25,000 - $35,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a range of benefits, including medical and dental insurance, retirement plan options, and paid time off.
