Job Summary:The State of Illinois is seeking a highly skilled Infection Control Coordinator to join our team. As a Registered Nurse II, you will be responsible for monitoring and reviewing all suspected and proven infections, developing and reviewing facility Infection Control policies and procedures, and providing clinical advice and guidance to treatment staff on the implementation of infection control procedures.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) mandated programs to prevent transmission of communicable diseases
- Utilize the nursing process to plan and provide for the development and delivery of nursing care for individuals receiving health care services for infectious diseases
- Provide education and conduct training in conjunction with the Training Coordinator in staff development classes related to health and infection control issues
- Complete mandatory training requirements and participate in continuing education workshops and seminars to maintain professional competency
- Serve as a nursing team leader and prepare and maintain records and/or reports needed to adequately document nursing care plans
- Serve on-call as assigned for any problematic areas encountered in completing assigned duties
- Requires graduation from an approved nursing education program resulting in an associate or diploma degree in nursing and two years of progressively responsible professional nursing experience or a bachelor's degree in nursing and one year of professional nursing experience or a master's degree in nursing
- Requires licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois
- Requires ability to acquire and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification and the ability to obtain the Certification of Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) within two years of employment
- Requires ability to work after business hours, weekends, and holidays on a rotation basis and to travel in the performance of job duties
- Requires ability to serve on an on-call basis and to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted
- Requires ability to use of office equipment, including personal computers and basic computer skills
- Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check and to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law
The Division of Mental Health is seeking to hire an energetic licensed Registered Nurse to serve as Infection Control Coordinator for a 24/7 shift operated facility for the Chicago-Read Mental Health Center located in Chicago, Illinois.
