Job Summary

The Texas Health & Human Services Commission is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse III - Acute Care to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of individualized care plans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and evaluate patients' physical and emotional needs, developing and implementing individualized care plans to meet their unique requirements.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and other interventions as prescribed by physicians, ensuring accurate and timely documentation of patient care.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care, including direct care staff, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Monitor patients' vital signs, weight, diet, feedings, and other health metrics, reporting any concerns or changes to the healthcare team.
  • Provide education and training to direct support professionals on monitoring patients after treatments or procedures, using instruction sheets and other resources as needed.
  • Participate in facility quality assurance/quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the development and implementation of quality improvement plans.
  • Respond to emergency situations, ensuring the safety and well-being of patients and staff, and following safety and infection control procedures.
Requirements
  • Licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Texas (or a state that recognizes reciprocity through the Nurse Licensure Compact).
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
  • At least one (1) year experience as a practicing registered nurse, with two (2) years preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities preferred.
