Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Senior Mechanic to join our Grounds Department team at Garland Independent School District. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a variety of equipment, including lawn mowers, tractors, and other machinery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect, diagnose, adjust, and repair mechanical defects/failures in various pieces of equipment
  • Repair and change tires as needed
  • Maintain service records and perform preventive maintenance
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment
  • Maintain a professional appearance
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Texas Driver's License (unrestricted) with good driving record
  • 2-5 years minimum experience
  • Working knowledge of the general operation of gasoline, diesel, LP, and electric equipment
  • Working knowledge of the proper methods of servicing equipment and the repair and adjustment of power mowing equipment
  • Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the profession
  • Ability to repair custodial equipment
  • Basic knowledge of trailer wiring and braking systems
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred
Working Conditions

The Senior Mechanic will work in a fast-paced environment, often under time pressure to complete tasks. The position requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Reports to

The Senior Mechanic will report to the Supervisor, Grounds or Shop Foreman.
