**Job Overview**

We are seeking a skilled Masonry Technician to join our team at DeKalb County. As a key member of our infrastructure team, you will play a crucial role in constructing, maintaining, and repairing roads, sidewalks, curbs, footings, walls, catch basins, ramps, storm drains, and other structures.

Salary: $47,619 - $75,823 per year

Responsibilities:**

  • Perform a variety of semi-skilled masonry work, including reading blueprints, pouring concrete, building forms and supports, laying brick, sealing grout and concrete, etc.
  • Determine the amount of materials needed to complete projects and gather equipment, tools, parts, and supplies.
  • Monitor inventory levels and initiate requests for new or replacement materials as required.
  • Evaluate work activities to ensure compliance with applicable laws, codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Inspect roadways, sidewalks, and drainage systems to identify potential problems, unsafe conditions, and needed repairs.
  • Test and inspect machinery, equipment, and parts for proper operations and make adjustments or repairs as necessary.
  • Perform general cleaning and maintenance tasks to keep vehicles, equipment, and tools in operable condition.
  • Communicate with supervisors, employees, and the public to coordinate work activities and exchange information.
  • Operate various equipment, tools, and supplies to complete work assignments.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required; three years of experience in masonry; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia Driver's License and certification as a Mason Journeyman.
