Job Title: Mammography Technologist

We are seeking a skilled Mammography Technologist to join our team on a per diem basis. As a Mammography Technologist, you will be responsible for producing high-quality mammography images for interpretation, ensuring patient safety, and educating patients on procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Produce high-quality mammography images for interpretation.
  • Assume responsibility for patient safety by utilizing proper exposure and protective measures.
  • Educate and explain procedures to patients.
  • Follow departmental protocols for procedures unless otherwise specified by the Radiologist.
  • Obtain and document patient history and pertinent information.
  • Ensure proper identification of patient and patient demographics in the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
  • Communicate with attending Radiologists and verify provider orders.
  • Adhere to infection control standards specific to patient care.
  • Prioritize and organize work assignments and adjust priorities based on changing business situations.
  • Operate medical imaging equipment properly and safely.
  • Demonstrate awareness of Radiation Safety Procedures for self and others.
  • Ensure equipment is in acceptable condition by conducting routine quality control checks.
  • Follow department protocols in the production of screening and diagnostic mammograms.
  • Follow regulatory guidelines and perform Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) as mandated by the American College of Radiology (ACR) and the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA).
  • Follow mammography procedures for needle localizations and stereotactic biopsies as required.
General Job Functions:
  • Demonstrate knowledge and compliance of safety, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations.
  • Must be organized, self-motivated, and efficient while working well with others in a team setting.
  • Must always deliver compassionate patient care with satisfaction as a priority.
  • Must adhere to As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) principles while delivering quality, safe patient imaging at all times.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work environment.
  • Other job duties as required.
  • Attend departmental meetings as required.
Education, Certification, Computer, and Training Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (R) required.
  • Advanced registry in Mammography, (M), required.
  • Must have current New Jersey State Radiographer License in good standing.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • 2+ years' experience performing Mammography required.
  • The ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Must be familiar with and utilize an Electronic Medical Record System, Radiology Information System (RIS), and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) System.
