Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Institution's CEO/CMH/CMO or designee, the Recreation Therapist will be responsible for:
- Developing and implementing specialized recreation therapy services to promote social interaction, encourage beneficial and appropriate utilization of leisure time, and provide patients-inmates and/or DJJ youth with preparation for reentry into general population or other levels of treatment.
- Participating in the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IDTT) and coordinating services with primary clinicians, correctional counselors, and other custody personnel.
- Evaluating recreation therapy needs for patients-inmates and/or DJJ youth with particular attention to activities of daily living, communication skills, physical exercise, and positive coping strategies.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in recreation therapy and experience working with patients-inmates and/or DJJ youth. A Certified Recreational Therapist (CTRS) or National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC) is required.
What We Offer:
AvaMed Workforce offers a competitive pay rate of $54.00-$60.00 per hour (traveler rate) and weekly pay via direct deposit.
