Job Summary

UW Health University Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our Acute Medical and Progressive Care team. As a key member of our team, you will provide comprehensive and specialized nursing care to acutely ill adult patients with multiple comorbidities, a variety of medical diagnoses, and hemodynamic instability.

Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality, patient-centered care to patients with complex medical conditions, including those with Cystic Fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension, and post-lung transplant.
  • Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans that promote optimal patient outcomes.
  • Utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address complex patient needs and situations.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure seamless transitions of care.
Requirements
  • Current nursing license from a compact state or the state of permanent address.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
  • Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in an Academic Level 1 or 2 Trauma center or a similar size hospital.
  • IMC experience required; ICU experience considered but must be willing to work with non-ICU patients.
  • Experience with transplant and tracheostomy required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Specialty certification in Medical-Surgical or Progressive Care Nursing.
  • Experience working in a nationally recognized lung transplant program.
  • Ability to float to other units based on staffing needs.
