CNC Manufacturing Supervisor Job Description

Job Summary:

The CNC Manufacturing Supervisor is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the machining department and ensuring the production of high-quality products. This individual will lead a team of machinists and setup technicians, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient and effective operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the machining department and provide day-to-day work direction for the manufacturing team.
  • Ensure production schedule adherence and meet production Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Continuously improve workplace safety and enforce compliance with Company environmental, health, and safety standards and policy.
  • Enforce compliance with Company policy and administer disciplinary action as appropriate.
  • Review time and attendance for the department and submit to payroll in a timely manner.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities in the machining processes and assist management with implementing those changes from idea to realization.
  • Provide technical development and mentoring for machinists and setup technicians to improve skills and capabilities within the department.
  • Assist in training of setup operators and machine operators on multiple machine platforms.
  • Work with Design Engineering as required to resolve manufacturing issues and strive to improve manufacturability of product design.
  • Assist in implementing and managing an effective machine data collection system.
  • Create and maintain machine shop documentation and provide work instructions to ensure process control.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping and segregation/collection of scrap materials and waste.
Requirements:
  • Must have sufficient experience and training in metal machine shop practices.
  • Expertise in operation and set up of both manual and CNC metal machining equipment.
  • Extensive knowledge in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • General CNC Programming capability for multiple platforms (Horizontal Mills, Vertical Mills, Sub-Spindle Lathes, Turn Centers, Bandsaws, etc.).
  • 5+ years Supervisory experience and proven ability to effectively lead individuals and teams.
  • 5+ years of experience running, setting up, and programming multiple CNC machine platform types (Horizontal Mills, Vertical Mills, Sub-Spindle Lathes).
  • Must display and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Must have a continuous improvement mindset and be able to present and implement positive change.
Working Conditions:

The work environment is very fast-paced, and work is primarily conducted on the shop floor. Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice as assigned by the Manager.
