Job Summary

MedStar Health is seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at MedStar Health Urgent Care. The ideal candidate will possess excellent customer service and patient interaction skills, as well as certification as a Medical Assistant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform clinical and administrative duties in a MedStar Urgent Care setting under the supervision of a physician/provider and/or a registered nurse.
  • Assist providers with patient exams, telephone and clerical support, and other duties as assigned.
  • Conduct motivational interviews and patient screenings to identify potential behavioral health needs.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives to improve care quality and safety.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with safety protocols and infection control measures.
  • Perform selected patient and laboratory testing, including Point of Care Testing and electrocardiography.
  • Remove sutures/staples and document activities in the patient's electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Provide escort/chaperoning and assist with patient discharge activities.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants within 1 year or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through American Medical Technologists within 1 year.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Experience working in an ambulatory care medical office or equivalent.
