Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse with a minimum of 1.5 years of general nursing experience. This role is essential in providing high-quality care across various acute care departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accepts first-time travelers with over 2 years of experience.
  • Travelers must reside more than 100 miles from any facility.
  • Permanent staff must wait one full year before returning as travelers.
  • Case Managers will care for patients, maintaining a patient ratio of 1 CM to 16-20 patients.
  • Required certifications include BLS.
  • Completion of a nursing education program approved by a board of nursing is mandatory.
  • Must hold a Registered Nurse (RN) license under the South Dakota Board of Nursing.
  • Experience in discharge planning, acute care case management, and family discussions regarding care plans is essential.
Support and Resources

Unit support includes Case Management Assistants, Lead Case Managers, Social Work, Utilization Review RNs, and Hospitalists. The charting system utilized is EPIC, with a comprehensive orientation program including an EPIC class lasting 1.5 weeks.

Work Schedule
  • Weekend rotation consists of 2 weekends per 13-week assignment.
  • Typical weekend staffing includes 3 RN Case Managers, 1 Social Worker, 1 Lead Case Manager, 1 Case Manager Assistant, and 1 Utilization Review Nurse.
  • No on-call duty is required.
  • Expected to work 2 out of 4 major holidays.
  • Up to 7 days of approved time off, with extensions required for any full week off.
  • No time off during specific major events.
