Job Summary

The College of Business and Entrepreneurship at Bethune-Cookman University is seeking a highly qualified Academic Faculty Member to join our team. As a Professor of Accounting, you will play a critical role in fostering a student-centered learning environment that is consistent with the University's core values.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned undergraduate and graduate courses in Accounting, developing and implementing innovative curricula and instructional materials.
  • Contribute to the evaluation and selection of texts and instructional materials, preparing course materials and lesson plans that align with the department's goals.
  • Utilize the University's learning management system to post syllabi, assignments, and other materials, and to communicate effectively with students.
  • Evaluate student performance in meeting course objectives and learning outcomes through assignments, projects, discussions, or examinations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records to provide timely feedback on student progress and grade reports.
  • Establish and maintain office hours to ensure accessibility and support for students.
  • Collaborate with diverse internal and external constituencies to advance the University's mission.
  • Participate in departmental and College meetings, serving on committees as elected or appointed.
  • Engage in community service activities and sponsor or co-sponsor student extracurricular activities.
  • Attend academic convocation, baccalaureate, and commencement ceremonies.
  • Perform administrative duties as designated in annual or special contracts or assigned by the department head or Dean.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Accounting; CPA credential is preferred but not required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Evidence of teaching excellence at the college level, including course and curriculum development; scholarly activity in the specific area; and active involvement in ongoing research, including grants and publications.
  • Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to diverse student populations, with the ability to contribute to the University's commitment to enhancing student awareness and appreciation of diverse ethnic and cultural heritages.
  • Uphold the reputation of the University, cooperate with the administration, and observe and enforce the policies and procedures of the University to the best of their abilities.
