POSITION SUMMARY:
The Logistics Operations Supervisor is primarily accountable for overseeing, coordinating, and managing the planning, administration, training, and logistical support across multiple facilities. This role is crucial in ensuring the safe and efficient collection, transportation, and disposal of both residential and commercial waste and recyclables. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional organizational abilities that drive ongoing enhancements in operations, client relations, and employee engagement. This supervisor will cultivate strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that business commitments are met and service level agreements are fulfilled. The operations leader will foster a high-performance team environment by exercising sound judgment and balancing authority with collaboration. Key responsibilities include determining optimal staffing levels to meet fluctuating demands, monitoring performance metrics, and evaluating team effectiveness to surpass production and operational goals. In collaboration with the Division/District Manager(s), the operations leader will achieve set objectives, provide timely reporting, and offer training, coaching, and necessary disciplinary actions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Directs daily operations of transportation, hauling, and support services, ensuring exceptional customer service and the proper handling of waste without environmental contamination.
2. Develops, manages, and assesses operational metrics while identifying and enhancing processes, procedures, and customer service performance.
3. Engages in the formulation of Divisional/District operational budgets and adheres to best practices in monitoring and evaluation.
4. Conducts thorough investigations for all incidents and injuries, ensuring appropriate follow-up training and reporting.
5. Regularly reviews the Operations department, contributing to staff selection, coaching, performance evaluations, and training initiatives.
6. Provides input on termination, compensation, bonus eligibility, and promotion decisions.
7. Establishes both short-term and long-term objectives and action plans in collaboration with the Division/District Manager(s), Facility Manager, and RVP.
8. Participates in regular financial reviews to ensure budget compliance; develops programs for effective resource allocation, equipment utilization, and cost control.
9. Engages with local government and community agencies to strengthen business relationships, promote community involvement, and ensure customer satisfaction.
10. Collaborates with various departments to address employee relations issues, foster team spirit, and build rapport.
11. Aids in the development and implementation of safety programs, monitoring work processes and expenses to enhance team performance and mitigate risks.
12. Conducts periodic route observations to ensure compliance with high standards of customer satisfaction and regulatory requirements.
13. Monitors routing information to optimize the use of vehicles, equipment, and personnel.
14. Consults with municipal officials and community organizations to nurture key client relationships and business partnerships.
15. Ensures compliance with DOT, OSHA, and other regulatory standards.
16. Acts as a liaison with HR and Safety Departments to create and implement both technical and non-technical training programs.
17. Oversees all operational safety training and mentors field supervisors in safety protocols.
18. Responds to critical incidents at any time, day or night.
19. Analyzes daily work and seasonal demands to determine appropriate staffing levels and task execution, maintaining a positive attitude towards leaders, colleagues, and clients.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Employees in this role are required to participate in company-sponsored training sessions as assigned.
* Employees must stay current with relevant technology utilized by Waste Pro USA.
* Any other duties assigned by the Supervisor.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The normal setting for this position includes office, field, and maintenance facilities.
