Position Summary


The Heavy Equipment Transport Operator is a skilled hourly position responsible for performing a variety of tasks on construction sites, primarily focused on the safe and efficient transportation of materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Possess a valid Class "A" CDL and maintain a driving record that adheres to company policies.
  • Understand and comply with DOT regulations.
  • Safely operate dump trucks to transport materials to and from construction sites.
  • Demonstrate knowledge in securing loads, including chaining and binding equipment as per DOT standards.
  • Conduct daily safety inspections of the vehicle, checking fluid levels and identifying any leaks or damages.
  • Perform routine maintenance to ensure the vehicle remains in optimal working condition.
  • Communicate any vehicle repair needs to the supervisor promptly.
  • Efficiently load and operate equipment as required.
  • Drive tri-axle trucks and trailers safely.
  • Prioritize safety by identifying and reporting near misses and unsafe practices.
  • Be capable of climbing on and off heavy mobile equipment safely.
  • Assist with incidental tasks and duties across various crafts as needed.
Qualifications


To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Demonstrable experience as a Heavy Equipment Transport Operator, typically requiring three to five years in a similar role.
  • A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Ability to understand work directions and communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
Physical Requirements


This position requires:

  • Constant physical activity, including standing for extended periods and the ability to stoop, bend, and crouch.
  • The capability to lift at least 50 pounds frequently, and up to 150 pounds with assistance.
  • Maintaining alertness to the various activities occurring on the construction site.
  • Walking on uneven surfaces in varying weather conditions.
  • Safe climbing on and off heavy mobile equipment.
Work Environment


The work environment includes:

  • Outdoor settings in all weather conditions.
  • Exposure to high noise levels, grease, and dust typical of construction sites.
  • Proximity to heavy machinery and moving equipment.
  • Handling substances commonly found on construction sites, such as oils and fuels.
