SOUS CHEF OVERVIEW:

The role of Sous Chef at Shore Lodge is highly esteemed. Our ideal candidate is a detail-oriented professional who is passionate about culinary arts and dedicated to upholding our high standards. This position is crucial in delivering outstanding dining experiences that reflect our commitment to quality and service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee kitchen operations, ensuring the procurement, preparation, and presentation of all culinary offerings meet our quality standards.
  • Collaborate with culinary team members to innovate menu items, improve processes, and manage inventory effectively.
  • Guarantee consistent culinary excellence that surpasses company expectations.
  • Engage in the recruitment, training, and development of kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Monitor kitchen maintenance and sanitation, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Assist the Chef de Cuisine in designing and implementing seasonal menus and special culinary events.
  • Support other kitchen teams as necessary, contributing to special projects and events.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work station, assisting with preparation and cleaning tasks as required.
  • Adhere to attendance policies and be available for regular shifts.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Possess a culinary degree or equivalent experience, with a minimum of three years in a supervisory role.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in executing standardized recipes and managing daily kitchen operations.
  • Exhibit strong communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Have a proven track record of effective leadership and teamwork in a culinary setting.
  • Showcase a calm demeanor and maturity, leading by example in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understand the dynamics between front and back of house operations, promoting a collaborative atmosphere.
