Certified Respiratory Therapist PRN Nights

Job Summary:

St James Parish Hospital is seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team on a PRN Nights basis. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for evaluating, treating, testing, and providing high-quality professional care to patients with pulmonary and/or cardiac difficulties.

Key Responsibilities:

• Evaluate and treat patients with respiratory and cardiac conditions
• Perform aerosol treatments, oxygen therapy, pulse oximetry, arterial blood gases, pulmonary function testing, stress testing, and holter monitoring
• Complete respiratory assessments in a timely manner and schedule therapy as needed
• Administer treatments, set up equipment, and maintain quality control
• Coordinate with physicians to establish and maintain airways in cases of cardiac or respiratory arrest
• Initiate, maintain, and monitor patients on continuous ventilation, BiPAP, and/or CPAP
• Perform arterial sticks, run blood samples through the blood gas machine, and report results to physicians
• Document patient information, including assessments, interventions, and evaluations
• Provide education to patients and families on respiratory therapy and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching
• Maintain equipment, troubleshoot issues, and present a positive image of the hospital

Requirements:

• Licensed by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners as a Licensed Respiratory Therapist
• Registered with the National Board of Respiratory Care
• Graduate of an accredited school of Respiratory Care, preferably associate's degree
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2 years of experience in an Acute Care setting, covering Acute, Swing, Hospice, Cardiopulmonary, Outpatient Services, and ER

Work Schedule:

PRN Nights, 12-hour shifts
