We are seeking a highly skilled Orthopedic Nurse Practitioner to join our team at Resurgens Orthopaedics. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and working closely with our orthopedic surgeons to ensure the best possible outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Clinic Assistance:
- Conduct thorough physical exams, pre-operative and post-operative evaluations, and document findings.
- Order and interpret diagnostic studies, including x-rays, MRIs, CT scans, and laboratory tests.
- Establish a diagnosis, develop a treatment plan, and implement necessary interventions.
- Consult with specialists and interventional physicians as needed.
- Assist in reducing fractures and dislocations.
- Provide minor office surgical care, including toenail removal and suturing.
- Apply and remove casts, splints, and immobilizing devices, and remove sutures or staples.
- Administer injections, immunizations, and oral medications, and perform other clinic procedures.
- Prepare written prescription orders and authorize prescription refills.
- Assist physicians in applying specialized orthopedic devices and fit patients for braces and orthotics.
- Instruct patients and their representatives on medications and treatment instructions, and provide education on the use of crutches, canes, and other orthopedic devices.
- Record patient progress notes and transcribe orders.
- Triage patient telephone calls, answer questions, and provide consultation and education.
- Provide monitoring and continuity of care.
- Perform independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations.
- Hospital Assistance:
- Obtain complete pre-operative medical history and physical data for surgery patients.
- Acquire necessary surgical equipment and hardware for scheduled procedures.
- Assist in surgery, including first assist, deep and superficial tissue closures, and application of appliances.
- Conduct hospital rounds, evaluate clinical conditions, and formulate and implement treatment plans for hospitalized patients.
- Dictate discharge summaries, histories, and physicals.
- Maintain a log of all surgical procedures for documentation and billing purposes.
- Take first call for the physician, including deciding to admit, arranging surgical intervention, and scheduling emergency procedures.
- Make emergency room evaluations and inpatient consultations.
- Administrative Responsibilities:
- Provide supporting documentation and coding information for all healthcare services provided.
- Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested.
- Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations.
- Protect patient privacy in compliance with HIPAA Privacy Regulations.
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Current and active licenses and certifications.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Demonstrated conflict management skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail.
- Operating room experience preferred.
