Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and emergency tests on blood and other body fluids using automated and manual instrumentation.
  • Monitor specimens to ensure work is completed accurately and efficiently.
  • Review data prior to release and report any panic, abnormal, or critical values.
  • Maintain quality control data on tests performed and resolve any QC failures.
  • Prepare reagents and take inventory, and advise supervisor as required.
  • Assist with answering the telephone and perform order entry in the LIS system.
  • May have individual responsibility for the work of a laboratory unit and provide leadership for technicians.
  • Assist with the training of new employees and maintain a clean work area in accordance with Infection Control guidelines.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a physical science or medical technology preferred.
  • New York State Department of Education Clinical Laboratory Technologist License or a limited permit required.
  • Laboratory and hospital information system computers, automated equipment, and other laboratory equipment required.

This position is located at the Moses campus in the Hematology Lab. The hours are 4:00 PM – 12:30 AM with alternate weekends.
