Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team as a Seasonal Trauma ICU Registered Nurse at St. David's South Austin Medical Center. As a key member of our critical care team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to critically ill patients in our Trauma ICU. This is a seasonal position that requires a commitment of at least 72 hours per pay period, with four weekend shifts per 4-week schedule period.

Responsibilities

As a Seasonal Trauma ICU Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for:

  • Performing patient assessments, developing a plan of care, implementing and evaluating care
  • Directing, monitoring, and evaluating the care delegated to non-licensed personnel on the team
  • Providing educational materials to patients and families on care and treatments
  • Administering medications and completing treatments according to hospital policy
  • Performing venipuncture, administering and maintaining IV fluids and IV medications
  • Reviewing all new physician orders, ensuring that orders are carried out and documented correctly, and verifying that other departments are notified of orders and services
  • Notifying the Charge Nurse and/or physician of changes in patient status
  • Providing accurate and relevant patient information reports to the Charge Nurse and to the on-coming shift to ensure continuity of care

Requirements

To be eligible for this position, you must have:

  • 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) in an acute care setting
  • 1 year of Critical Care and/or Trauma Nursing experience - preferred
  • Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited Nursing program
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) - preferred
  • Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required as per St. David's Healthcare policy
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required as per St. David's Healthcare policy within 1 year from hire date
