Position Purpose: The primary aim of this role is to evaluate, diagnose, and treat speech and language disorders in children from birth to 22 years old, addressing various aspects such as language, voice, fluency, articulation, and pragmatic language skills.

Job Classification: Pacific Coast Speech Services

Overtime Status: Non-Exempt

Compensation Range: $52 - $70 per hour, based on experience:

  • 0-5 Years: $52 - $57
  • 6-10 Years: $57 - $63
  • 10+ Years: $63 - $70

Employment Type: Full-time preferred; part-time applications will be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine students' communication abilities, including standardized assessments as part of a triennial review for continued eligibility.
  • Research resources and strategies to meet students' functional goals.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and interdisciplinary team members to develop treatment plans that ensure educational benefits.
  • Provide instruction and consultation to interdisciplinary team members and families to generalize skills taught in the educational setting.
  • Gather data on student progress, document activities, and prepare reports using required data management systems.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • California Speech Pathologist license (SLP) or eligibility for a CA preliminary RPE license; and/or California Speech-Language Services Credential or eligibility for a CA preliminary credential.
  • Preferred experience in school-based settings; mentoring opportunities available.
  • DOJ/FBI Live Scan Background & TB Clearance required.
  • Proficient in computer use; familiarity with special education software preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational abilities with capacity to manage multiple tasks.
  • Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills in English, including business writing and professional telephone etiquette.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Occasional exposure to dust, pollen, and fumes.
  • Frequent physical activities including reaching, handling, sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, running, carrying, and lifting 50 or more lbs.
  • Ability to see and hear within normal ranges, with or without correction.
