Job Description

State Farm is seeking a highly skilled Counsel to join our Privacy and Information Security Unit within our Corporate Law Department.

The primary focus of this role is to advise on enterprise programs related to privacy, information security, risk, and compliance.

As a Counsel in this unit, you will provide legal advice on federal and state privacy and information security requirements, enterprise risk management, and the compliance and ethics program.

You will also advise on other programs including information retention, crisis management, AML/OFAC, and business continuity, as well as general technology-related legal matters.

This is a hybrid role, requiring hours in the office and virtually, with a significant amount of time spent in the office.

Responsibilities
  • Advise on enterprise programs related to privacy, information security, risk, and compliance
  • Provide legal advice on federal and state privacy and information security requirements
  • Collaborate with peers in other legal practice groups and business leaders throughout the enterprise
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in law, technology, and business objectives
Requirements
  • JD from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Active license to practice law in at least one state
  • 5+ years of experience with privacy and/or information security laws and regulations
  • Familiarity with risk and/or compliance programs
  • Demonstrated adaptability, learning agility, and ability to excel in a collaborative environment
