About the Role

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a highly skilled Surgical Technologist II to join our team. As a key member of our surgical team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-Operative Preparation: Discuss special needs with the surgeon before surgery and prepare the operative site by aseptically cleaning and patient clipping, as needed.
  • Instrument Management: Prepare and maintain the instrument table(s) in an organized and comprehensive manner to avoid damage to instrumentation as well as incorrect needs or instrument counts.
  • Surgical Support: Assist the surgical team with draping and positioning the patient, pass sterile supplies and equipment to surgeons and assistants during procedures, and hold retractor devices.
  • Specimen Handling: Receive surgical specimens following specimen protocol and pass the specimen(s) off the sterile field to the circulating nurse, verifying the source of the specimen.
  • Post-Operative Procedures: Assist with placement of surgical dressings to the operative site following surgical case completion and disassemble surgical instrumentation as indicated at the end of the procedure.
Requirements
  • Education: Graduation from an accredited surgical technologist program.
  • Experience: Less than 1 year of experience in a surgical technologist role.
  • Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
