Our Behavioral and Mental Health projects aim to evaluate the impact and efficacy of research initiatives aimed at improving health outcomes for Native American families and communities. We focus on public health outcomes specific to approved protocols at our worksite.

The Research Program Assistant II will primarily assist in day-to-day logistical and operational tasks for the Family Spirit Long-term Follow-up Study, interacting with investigators, collaborators, and participants in a research environment. This person will carry out research in accordance with good clinical practices, including obtaining informed consent, data and specimen collection, and patient follow-up over time.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a Research Program Assistant II for behavioral health projects in Whiteriver, AZ.
  • Recruit eligible study participants and administer informed consent.
  • Deliver surveys to eligible participants, working closely with Program Managers to ensure fidelity and quality.
  • Provide referrals to appropriate community resources.
  • Offer transportation for eligible participants.
  • Travel to and conduct visits with participants.
  • Collect data from participants, which may include interviews, self-report data, observational data, and health specimen collections.
  • Review data for accuracy and processing as needed.
  • Update program logs and maintain up-to-date data entry records.
  • Collaborate with the project team on general program conduct, evaluation, and participate in staff meetings to review project goals and progress.
  • Attend field-based trainings and meetings, including travel.
  • Provide referrals for youth and families to outside services and entities as necessary.
  • Represent the project in a community setting to initiate and maintain interest.
  • Participate in and co-facilitate Community Advisory Board meetings as needed.
  • Assist in disseminating project findings in annual reports, national conferences, and scientific literature.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • TWO YEARS OF RELATED EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR ADDITIONAL EDUCATION MAY SUBSTITUTE FOR EXPERIENCE TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY THE JHU EQUIVALENCE FORMULA.
