Position Title: Aquatic Safety Specialist

Position Summary:

The Aquatic Safety Specialist is responsible for ensuring a secure and inviting atmosphere in the swimming facility, including the pool and adjacent areas. This role fosters a positive environment that emphasizes patron safety and engagement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducts continuous monitoring of the swimming pool and surrounding areas.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of all emergency protocols relevant to the aquatic environment.
  • Acts promptly in emergency situations in line with organizational policies; provides accurate documentation and follow-up.
  • Understands and applies health and safety regulations pertinent to the aquatic facility.
  • Communicates information regarding programs and schedules to patrons.
  • Keeps precise records as mandated by the organization and relevant regulatory bodies.
  • Performs equipment inspections to ensure availability and functionality.
  • Conducts chemical testing as required; takes immediate corrective measures when necessary.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum age requirement of 15 years.
  • Current certifications in CPR for the Professional Rescuer with AED (infant/child/adult) and Basic First Aid.
  • Valid certification in YMCA Lifeguarding or Red Cross Lifeguarding.
  • Ability to obtain YMCA Lifeguarding certification within a specified timeframe upon hire.
  • Capability to achieve Oxygen Administration certification shortly after hiring.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to respond to emergencies with swift movements and physical exertion, including assisting individuals in distress.
  • Must remain vigilant to potential hazards while seated, standing, or walking for extended periods.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a noisy environment.
Compensation: $16.50 per hour
