About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Rail Mechanic/Inspector to join our team at The H&K Group. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for maintaining our fleet of railcars to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on railcars to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Conduct inspections to identify any issues or defects and take corrective action as needed.
  • Collaborate with our General Foreman to ensure that all maintenance activities are carried out safely and efficiently.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance activities and ensure that all necessary documentation is up to date.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the General Foreman.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in railcar maintenance or a related field.
  • Class 1 single car air test certification.
  • Welding, cutting, and fabrication skills.
  • Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work a second shift schedule.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Class 2 single car air test certification.
  • Experience working in a quarry or heavy civil construction environment.
  • MSHA or other relevant safety certification.
Work Environment

This role will involve working in a fast-paced outdoor environment with regular exposure to weather conditions, vibration, and noise. You will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
