Registered Nurse - Surgical Services
Department:

Position Summary:
The Registered Nurse will assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document nursing care for patients in alignment with established federal, state, and accreditation standards, as well as organizational policies and procedures.
This role holds accountability for the quality of nursing services provided by themselves or those under their supervision. The nurse will engage in direct patient care while ensuring a clean, organized, and safe environment.
Performance Expectations:
To excel in this role, the individual should demonstrate the following competencies:
- Critical Thinking: Ability to oversee and direct patient care within an operating room, ensuring adherence to accepted standards of practice.
- Interpersonal Skills: Maintain effective communication with patients, families, physicians, and colleagues, demonstrating a positive and professional demeanor.
- Job Knowledge: Perform duties ethically and legally within the scope of their nursing license, maintaining accurate medical records and responding effectively to emergent situations.
Circulator Responsibilities:
The Registered Nurse will perform necessary scrub duties, maintain counts of sponges, needles, and instruments, and ensure efficient execution of circulating duties. Responsibilities also include positioning patients, preparing the operative area, and ensuring all supplies and equipment are available and properly managed.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) License required.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required.
- Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
- Previous nursing experience in surgical settings, ambulatory surgery centers (ASC), PACU, ICU, Medical Surgical, or Telemetry floors is essential.
Physical Demands:
The role requires the ability to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods, with occasional lifting or moving of patients and equipment.
Working Conditions:
The Registered Nurse will work in well-lit and ventilated environments, including operating rooms and nurse's stations.
